Hubert Douglas Crotts 
Mr. Doug "HD" Crotts passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2011. Born in Siler City, NC on February 3, 1921, he was a resident of Charlotte since 1952. As a Marine during World War II HD received The 
Bronze Star, Navy Cross, and British Distinguished Service Medal for actions on Tarawa and the Purple Heart on Siapan. Following the war he received his BA in History and English at Lenoir-Rhyne College and his MA in History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. HD was a dedicated teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System teaching at Harding, Myers Park and Garinger High Schools. A member of Dilworth United Methodist Church, HD is survived by his wife of 65 years Eugenia Farrell Crotts, daughter Susanne Crotts of the home, son Ed Crotts and wife Debra Lewis Crotts and grandsons Samuel Lewis Crotts and Maxwell Farrell Crotts of Greenville, NC; sister, Mary Howell of Charlotte and brother George Byron Crotts of Graham, NC and nieces and nephews. 
A memorial service will be held at Dilworth United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 conducted by Reverend Ben Devoid Senior Minister.
