I remember Carroll as a fairly quiet, kind, gentle soul, always respectful.  There is little doubt that he will be sorely missed by family and friends who were grateful to have known him.  May he rest in peace.

Ann and I wish the best for his family and send our sincere condolences

A As a long time friend dating from 1st grade at Enderly Park Elementry through 12th at Harding High, I always admired and appreciated Carroll's friendship. Lost touch over the years, but was pleased to lean about his Family and business success.
if  I remember correctly, Carroll had a 1951-52 Chevrolet that his parents gave him in high school. He was so proud and we often took it for short trips including one  year to Ocean Drive Beach. memories of a good friend do not disappear.

I met Carroll in elementary school at Glenwood Elementary.  He was always more reserved and attentive than I was, but we became and remaind friends through High School.  He had a great dry sense of humor and we could always laugh with and at each other.  He was a good friend and I am so happy he was in my life.

On Tuesday I attended Carroll's memorial service at Jamestown United Methodist Church.   There appreared to be approxiimately 200 people who braved the cold rainy day and Covid to honor Carroll.  A  poem in his Order
of Service read:
Remember Me
You can shed tears that I am gone.
Or you can smile because I've lived.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see me,
Or you can let it be full of the love that we shared.
You can remember me and think only that I'm gone,
Or you can cherish my memory and let it live on.
You can live in the sorrows of yesterday,
Or you can do what I would want for you:
Greet tomorrow with hope, love, and go on.

Carroll and I were roomates our freshman year at Carolina, and I have many fond memories of our experiences. (some of which cannot be repeated here).  Lois and I last saw Carroll and Paula several years ago when we invited them for dinner at our daughter's house in Greensboro.  Carroll was just the same as always- humorous, easy going, and intelligent.  We will miss him, but will have many fun stories and fond memories to keep him with us forever.

My prayers go out to Carroll's family and friends as they grieve of his passing, but also celebrate his memory.

I really enjoyed the poem, "Remember Me".  Thanks for sharing.  Duke Stogner (class or '61)
