I'm saddened  to learn that Rae is deceased. I knew him from school and our old neighborhood (Tryon Hills). He was the personafication of cool. I wish I knew more about what happened to him. Maybe the Observer has an obituary in their archives. I wish good health to the remaining class of '61

It breaks my heart to find that Rae is gone. I always enjoyed  him  and it was fun to play with him on football team Rae was a great guy and always wanted hair like his...he was Mr. Kool and was what Harding was all about.

Rest in God' Peace, we will miss you

Rae and I came up through the ranks of Bethune Elem. and through HHS together.  What a dear, cool guy...always.

Rae's parents really cared for the kids in their neighborhood...so much so that the Shorts were written up in the Charlotte Observer.  They invited kids into their home for movie night on a regular basis.  I went several times...great fun !!!

Warmest memories and sadness that Rae is gone.
